The chocolate, is a female, "Bailey". She's an 11 month old 60 lb bird dog, out of Jazzy and Jaxon. Bailey is SO sweet, and everyone loves her. My silver is a male, "Jager or Jagermeister". He's a 6 month old, 56 lbs of pure laid back sweetheart. Jager is out of Bacardi and Whiskey. He should be my 100 lb sweet, retriever when he grows up, and he loves to be next to me all the time. I wanted to let you know what a wonderful pup he is and let you see a photo of him. He is just over 80 pounds. He is short, stocky and buff. People always comment on the perfect lab build that he has. He loves to swim, is wonderful with kids and plays well with other dogs. He's extremely calm and well natured. He's been this way from day one with me. Everyone still comments on how gorgeous he is and wants to know about him. He knows he's a handsome boy and prances about, he's quite the show off. We would love to hear from you. Here are some Labrador Retriever basics: The Labrador Retriever was developed in England in the mid 1800s. Labrador Retrievers are sporting dogs. Besides hunting, Labs work as assistance dogs for people with disabilities, as search and rescue dogs. Labs need to be brushed on a regular basis (about once a week) to keep them clean. A Labrador with correct temperament is never hyperactive. Since 1991, they have been the top registered dog with the AKC. Most Labradors, show and field bred, make great hunters. Although very protective, Labradors are generally not reliable guard dogs. Labradors tend to be good with children. Labradors love to swim. In general, they take to swimming quite naturally. Labradors used to come in three colors: black, chocolate, and yellow, but now breeders have introduced silver labs. Aside from the color itself, there are no differences in the dogs. Two sets of genes, not one, control a Lab's coloration. Bored Labradors may bark, but excessive barking is not generally typical. Labs love to be with people. Labs are energetic and enjoy being active, playing games, and participating in activities as simple as fetch. Both sexes make good pets. Labs are not shy or nervous dogs, which means they are usually not afraid of things. Labs love to put things in their mouths! These dogs are very independent, which means that sometimes Labs want to do things their own way. Training should start early.
